Banco Central released a note stating that the release date for “Pix Automático,” which would benefit recurring service providers, will change from October 28 of this year to June 16, 2025.

This is not the first time the release date has been pushed forward; in October 2023, BACEN announced that the new release date would be April 2024.

While BACEN did not provide a reason for the postponement, the institute underwent a standard operation that lasted 10 months and began in July of last year.

Additionally, it is publicly known that BACEN is facing budgetary difficulties.

Pix Automático can be used to pay recurring bills, with an operation similar to what we now know as automatic debit.

It will be possible to pay, for example, electricity, water, and health insurance bills, but not limited to them.

It could also be a Netflix, Spotify, Adobe Lightroom, Pipedrive, GoDaddy, or Freshworks subscription, for example.

Despite the change in the Automatic Pix (recurring), the BC maintained the mandatory recurring Scheduled Pix as of October 28, 2024.

Unlike the Automatic, Scheduled Pix will always have payment instructions initiated by the payer and may be addressed to individuals or businesses.

It will be possible, for example, to schedule an allowance payment for a predetermined period.

In Pix Automatic, the request comes from the recipient, always a legal entity, and with the recipient’s authorization.
